About Me — MarquisJ_Photography

Hi, I'm Marquis, the photographer behind MarquisJ_Photography. I've been behind the camera since 2019, and I'm based in Escondido, California, photographing weddings, quinceañeras, and events across the San Diego area.

My journey started thanks to my best friend, who got me into photography and pushed me to pick up a camera of my own. My first weddings were all in the family: I photographed three of my cousins, all sisters, at three separate weddings, and that's where my love for wedding photography began.

By day I work in accounting, and photography is where I get to step outside the nine-to-five, connect with people, and create something meaningful. When I'm not behind the camera, you'll probably find me building databases and digging into data analytics, so yes, I'm a proud numbers nerd too. Every shoot helps me grow, from planning and communication to delivering images families treasure as keepsakes. Honestly, seeing my clients happy is what makes me happiest.

A little more about me: I'm a proud dad of two boys and a Marine Corps veteran who served nine years, five in infantry and four in finance. I'm also the youngest of ten, with more than 37 nieces and nephews, so big family celebrations are where I feel right at home.

What I love most is capturing the moments that make your day yours: the big entrances, the happy tears, and the quiet in-between moments you might miss. Now and then I also do editorial beauty work, and that keeps my eye sharp for light, detail, and making people look their best.

When we work together, you can expect a relaxed, easygoing experience and images that are polished, timeless, and true to you. I'm great at putting everyone at ease, from the guest of honor to grandma, with a smile, a little direction, and a lot of patience. I'd love to be there, capturing your moment.
